I read the review and saw the measurements of this knife before I bought it. Nvertheless was still surprised by how big it was. In this case big translates into a substantial knife with highly usable components. The saw is big enough to actually saw smaill branches. The main blade is sharp and long. Long enough to easily disect an apple or cut thick rope. The scissors are typical Victorinox quality (which is excellent. Amazon has a great price - just be sure you want a knife this size. It is bulky in a pants pocket but great to carry hiking in a backpack - my intended use. I did use the wine opener just to see if it really works - it does.

I love this knife. I've got 3. And I'm not a big knife collector or something. Other than this knife, I've got a few keychain swiss blades. For me, it's an ALMOST perfect combination of utilities for everyday life.

First, it's got a large blade on it. And it locks. It's stable enough to cut into big jobs without worrying about it snapping closed on your fingers.

Second, I personally find the phillips and flathead screwdrivers to come in handy all the time. I don't keep a large toolbox and also do a lot of travelling so it's frequent that I don't have a screwdriver around.

I also frequently use the scissors, and can and bottle openers. I'm not a wine drinker, so I don't use the corkscrew much, but I can see how it might be useful.

I can't say I love the tweezers, but I've used them occasionally. I question the value of the toothpick. One of those little pens would have been a wonderful substition.

I have to say I've yet to use the saw and wish they would make a version of this without one. Also, I've never had use for that pointy thing on the back and am not really sure what it's used for. I'm pretty sure I could comfortably live without it for the rest of my life.

But of all the swiss knives out there, this is unquestionably the best overall useful existing blade. Someone please ask victorinox to dump the saw and the pointy thing and this will be perfect.

would be nice if it had the philips head screwdriver instead of the corkscrew. the corkscrews on swiss army knives are becoming an anachronism. they are actually a pain in the neck to actually use as a corkscrew and are of limited utility for anything else. otherwise great knife.

I find that the thing I use most is the scissors, so I would strongly recommend that the buyer select a model thusly equipped. They are VERY handy
